Michael Jackson

Well we all know by now the debacle that was Michael Jackson's return to the limelight when he attended the World Music Awards to collect a well deserved Diamong Award for selling more than a hundred albums world-wide. It could have been a real launch pad to a career that has recently been dogged by controversy, (if you don't know what the controversy has been, hows Mars nowadays?)Instead and ironically it failed because he gave what can only be called an embarassing and toe-curling performance punctuated by "I love you all" here and there. Michael NOOOOOOO!.
The news is that Michael is going to come out with a new album. My question is, is he wasting his time? Many artists have had controversy and sought the obscurity of a normal existence and then in turn returned to better success. Ultimately the controversy has helped many of these artists to produce material that receives wide acclaim. I expect the obvious parallel to Michael Jackson is R. Kelly who continues to have phenomenal success and output despite the fact that there was video evidence of Kelly (supposedly)fratenising with a minor. Michael then should be able to do it?
I don't really know. I feel a lot depends firstly on Michael Jackson's ability to change with the times rather like Madonna. There is no questioning his talent and ability to sing but i doubt that what he did when he was successful is the same thing he will be able to do now. I don't see the kids today going heavy when he busts the moonwalk. Of course if this is a serious attempt at a return he will have a multitude of people looking into every angle to increase his chances. Certainely there is still interest in the man Michael Jackson. One only needs look at crowd that came to see a man who was accused of a crime that usually causes revulsion. Can the fact that he still appears to have some marketable value guarantee success with a new album?. Initially yes. The natural curiosity will definately have an effect but if the album is crap that will quickly spread and that could be curtains.
I would like to see Michael Jackson make a successful comeback. The successs will not be on the same levels as he once enjoyed but it might help ease the years of conroversy that has plaugued him.The ultimate question is I expect does he still have the same circle of people around him? If he does could we just be waiting for the next installment of contoversy rather than a new album?
